David Altstaetter is Senior Director of Product Line Management; his primary focus is delivering solutions for cost effective optical switching. In this role, David is responsible for creating and managing solutions for intra-data center and inter-data center physical layer switching fabrics. He is active in developing and promoting solutions and standards for converged physical and packet layer networks. Prior to joining CALIENT, David has spent almost 20 years in the telecom industry working for both network equipment providers and Tier 1 service providers. Most recently, he was Sr. Director of Applications & Solutions at ADVA Optical Networking. David has authored and co-authored dozens of technical papers and has given numerous national and international presentations in the area of optical switching. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Texas Tech University.
